We were appointed for the architectural healthcare design of this redundant 40 bed Care Home. Our feasibility study looked at how the building could be extended and repurposed to create a Psychiatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) for people in crisis with their mental health.
We often get asked to do early feasibility studies to assess if a scheme is viable.
This plan shows our Initial Concepts for the ground floor of this building.
Following discussions with our clients, these then get worked up into more detailed Feasibility Plans.
Using our technical knowledge and interior design skills, we're able to show where, and how the building can be extended and altered to make it feasible for its new use.
Sightlines were a key aspect of the design. Staff need to be able to monitor vulnerable residents in order to keep them safe. We also needed to provide good quality communal areas to create a homely, therapeutic space.
The addition of bedrooms with large light wells, able to accommodate shared patio areas was proposed. As were improvements to sightlines and circulation.
Our knowledge and expertise allowed the client team to make a quick assessment of the viability of the scheme.
We have also worked on Care Homes and Supported Living Schemes for older people & those with learning difficulties.
