The Victorian Orangery at this Nursing home was in poor repair. During the pandemic we oversaw its refurbishment, including increasing its thermal performance, stonework repairs and the creation of temporary, covid secure visitor pods. We love giving older buildings a new lease of life, including listed ones.
We have years of experience taking projects on to site, and really enjoy working with the contractor and client on this stage of a project.
Here works are underway, the existing glass has been removed and the structure is being carefully repaired.
The original single glazing was removed, the structure repaired and repainted, and new doubled glazed panels with self-cleaning, insulated glass installed. Lighting and heating were also upgraded.
Here the Victorian orangery structure has been repaired and repainted and is ready for the new glazing units.
It was important for us and the client to keep the historical essence of the Orangery. So, one of the decisions we made was to keep the original internal finish to the brickwork which had previously been treated with a lime wash. Although now patchy, the limewash finish gave the space a real feeling of age.
